NURSING CONSIDERATIONS THAT YOU NEED TO FOCUS IN THE CARE OF CLIENT 24-48 HOURS AFTER NORMAL DELIVERY:POSTPARTUM NURSES ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE BOTH PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND RECOVERY FOR BOTH THE NEWBORN AND THE MOTHER AFTER DELIVERY.

  1. BREAST: SIGNS OF ENGORGEMENT, NIPPLE CONDITION AND EDUCATE ABOUT LATCH-ON TECHNIQUE FOR EFFECTIBE BREAST-FEEDING.
  2. UTERUS: ASSESSED FOR BOGGY,FIRM AND CRAMPY UTERUS OR EXCESSIVE BLEEDING.IN SUCH SITUATIONS , THE UTERUS IS MASSAGED .
  3. BOWEL:ASSESSED FOR BOWEL SOUNDS AND STOOL SOFTNERS AND LAXATIVES ARE PRESCRIBED TO PREVENT CONSTIPATION AND ALSO TO LIMIT PERINEAL DISCOMFORT DURING DEFEACATION.
  4. BLADDER: IT SHOULD BE NONPALPABLE ABOVE THE SYMPHYSIS PUBIS.
  5. FOUL-SMELLING LOCHIA WHICH SHOWS SIGNS OF INFECTION.
  6. EPISIOTOMY: ASSESSED FOR ANY DISCHARGE AND PERFECT APPROXIMATION OF THE WOUND.ASSESSMENT FOR ANY PERINEAL PAIN .
  7. ASSESSMENT OF THE LOWER EXTREMITIES TO RULE OUT DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS.
  8. EMOTIONS: ASSESSMENT MADE BY THE SIGNS OF THE POSTPARTUM BLUES WHICH INCLUDES IRRITABILITY, INSOMINIA.IT IS A NORMAL PHYSIOLOGICAL REACTION DUE TO HORMONAL IMBALANCE ,PHYSICAL TIREDNESS AND SHOULD DISPAPPEAR WITHIN A WEEK GRADUALLY.
  9. EDUCATE THE MOTHER ABOUT CREATING BONDING BETWEEN THE MOTHER AND NEWBORN BABY.
