What are the differences between protein expression in prokaryotic organisms vs. eukaryotic organisms
Prokaryotes and eukaryotes different in the mode of gene expression. In prokaryotes both DNA replication and transcription occurs in the cytoplasm simultaneously as there is no nucleus. Control of gene expressionoccurs at the level.of transcription which in turn controls the expression of protiens.
In eukaryotes, replication and transcription occurs within nucleus and mRNA formed during transcription. Passes into cytoplasm where translation occurs. Regulation of gene expression occurs at many level like transcription, post transcription translation and psot translation levels. These regulation levels determine how tightly DNA is coiled, when are where gene expression occurs and how much protein synthesis can take place. Gene expression in eukaryotes occurs by epigenetic changes in DNA , nucleosome remodelling DNA methylation, acetylation etc. These control mechanisms of gene expression are not found in prokaryotes.
