Considering the past two lessons looking at spreadsheet software, provide at least one example of how you think Excel has transformed virtually all departments within companies (or the business landscape at large)?

Excel has changed the total working of any company or business organization by its uncountable number of features .Here I am quoting the example of a company "BHEL " which mainly deals in power generation equipments.

Main department of this company are HR, Product design,Material plannings and procurement, Manufacturing ,and Finance.:

• HR department: Excel is Highly used by the Hr department for saving employees personal details like name, age ,hometown ,phone no ,pay scale, qualification ,date of joining,lenght of tenure etc.
• Let the manager want to find the youngest employee in the company he can easily find it with the help of excel.
• Hr dpt also uses excel for generating employees attendance report per month.
• Calculating age of employees, length of service ,their training based program all in firm BHEL are done by excel.
• Product Design:
• Company is using excel in product design department too.Transformers are main product of this firm .
• Calculation(Addition subtraction , percentage )of different parts like length width ,window size,tank size etc is done by using excel's mathematical tools
• Even large scale calculation (electrucal load calculation,voltage current drop,energy consumption)can be performed easily and accurately using formulas and customize calculator
• Material Planning and Procurement:
• How much material is consumed by different departments , currently stock is sufficient or not, forecasting of material needed in near future all this can be managed with the help of spreadsheet.
• Manufacturing :
• This department keeps the track of undergoing projects and this is maintained with the help of spreadsheets.
• How many products are ready , how many in quque,how much days it will need to fulfill a particular type of order ,maintaining the history of delivered order all this is maintained with the help of spreadsheet.
• Finance :In This department even the single and simplest task is executed with the help of excel.
• Filtering and sorting of data based on some condition. For ex. Calculation of salary based on employees performance and attendance.
• Tax calculation ,loan providing these also can be handled easily .
• Creation of pivots,graphs ,charts for evaluation of revenue generated or loss occurred to the compny is done with the excel.
• Balance sheet ,flow of cash, budgets management and business performance analysis all is done with the help of excel.

Thus we can conclude that excel has became an integral part of all the departments of any company .
