One widely observed practice after the COVID-19 lockdown was an increase in homemade bread. Flour, butter and sugar were difficult to find, and when they were available in grocery stores there were limits on the amounts any person could purchase at one time. How might you explain this, using the information above?

After the Covid 19 lockdown was an increase in homemade bread . Because the ingredients for making bread like flour ,butter and sugar were difficult to find. And if they were available in grocery stores there were limits on the amounts any person could purchase at one time .Due to the outbreak of coronavirus and lockdown ,demand for commodities like flour butter and sugar increase. But due to lockdown, there were shortage of flour ,butter and sugar . When they were available in grocery stores there were limits on the amounts .So a person could purchase only at one time . One possible reason is the disruptions to supply chain caused by the lockdowns. Another reason could be that most of the people are turning their kitchens into bakeries. The Spanish government recently reported that flour sales have quadrupled due to higher demand for flour for making homemade bread. In U.K. flour producers have doubled their production , but still there are struggling to meet the demand for flour. Cooking and baking bread potential offers stress relief to the person start the making of homemade bread. During lockdown jobless persons were simply sitting at their home. And they were facing huge stress and tension during lockdown periods. It was the better way that they found to start the making of bread at their own kitchen for sale. So they can earn income by sitting at their home Therefore increase in the production of homemade bread , results shortage of commodities like flour , butter sugar etc. It leads to shortage of there commodities.
