Individuals of different ethnicities are somewhat more genetically variable than those of the same ethnicity and may respond to treatments differently. The FDA has recently requested that every effort be made to include individuals of all major ethnic backgrounds when enrolling subjects in clinical trials. A study described the efficacy of calcium and vitamin D supplementation in preventing hip and other fractures in healthy postmenopausal women.
