Genetic modification involves the alteration of an organism’s DNA to cause changes in its seeds or offspring. There are a variety of reasons for the use of this technology, but some people have concerns about the possible effects of GMOs on health and the environment.
Choose the phrases below that represent common reasons for genetic modification.

Genetic modification is a process used to alter genetic material in an organism, crops and has been used widely in agriculture field in order to prevent disease, higher food quality, reduced need of pesticides, and reduced cost in the case of food production.
Genetic modification in the crops in order to increase its resistance to specific pest, increased nutritional value, disease resistance and tolerance to drought. These are the reason for genetic modification
Resistance to Specific pest: Soya bean has inserted gene which is resistant for many pests and Corn has gene which is used for bacterial pesticide for killing the larva
Increased nutritional value: Wheat is good for health and it contains gluten which causes allergy to some people. Genetically modified gluten free wheat that is the choice of many people who has food allergy to gluten. Genetically modified contain vegetables has high sources of vitamin E which helps to prevent heart disease. Golden rice also one of the genetically modified rice has higher sources of vitamin A and iron which is the choice of many nutritional deficiency.
Disease resistance: The genetically modified plants resistance to disease by inserting some genes in to the plants that has resistance to virus, fungi, insects has been developed
Drought tolerance: The genetically modified plants can able to sustain during drought by its biomass and its process are complex and it has many mechanism for this process. Mainly stomatal conductance, anthracyanin accumulation, carotenoid degradation is some of the mecahism. For example crops such as rice, corn has been resistance to tolerance by means of genetically modified crops
