Please list at least two examples. Do you think a strict biosecurity program is necessary or can it be ignored? Provide an explanation as to why you believe this. If you were working at a swine farm and were put in charge of caring for a litter of pigs, then what management practices would you perform from birth up to two weeks of age? Answer of the 1st part of question,

The types of biosecurity protocols that can be found in a swine farm are the following

A] Entry of only essential individuals are allowed in the farm i.e. only restricted entries are allowed in the farms.

B] vaccines are given to all the swines in proper time.

C] No doestic animals and wild animals are allowed in the farm.

D] Staffs of the farm take proper protection measures so that no pathogens can enter the farm etc.

Answer of the 2nd part of question,

Yes, a strict biosecurity program is necessary for a swine farm beacuse swines are economically important animals and they are widely farmed for their meat. So, to increase the productivity and for the better health of swines the biosecurity program  must be followed. By following the biosecurity program ,we can stop entry of any disease causing agent in the farm and we can also prevent the spread of the disease causing agents in the farm.so.thus we can control outbreak of any disease in swine farm.and by following the biosecurity program we can also provide the swine a good quality of food and a better place to live in .This will help to increse the productivity and all these will be economically benificial.

Answer of the 3rd part of question,

If i were working at a swine farm and were put in charge of caring for a litter of pigs , the management practices that I would perform from birth upto the two weeks of age are the follwing-

A] I would feed the litter "colostrum" (the first milk) just after their birth because colostrum is a good source of nutrient and energy and it will help the litter to improve their immune condition.

B] I would allow the litters to be with their mother ,so that the suckling pattern of the litters can be retained.

C] I would monitor the litter continuously so that ,the symptoms of any kind of illness can be detected easily. And then i will consult with veterinarian to provide proper medicine to the diseased piglet.
