What type of jurisdiction did the federal courts have on The Walmart discrimination case
In 2001, six female employees of Walmart filed suit against their company in US federal court claiming that Walmart discriminated against them in salary, bonuses and training. Then in 2004, the court granted the plaintiffs’ motion for class certification So for wallmart there are many women employees but they paid very less salary for them approximately it is below $5200 in a year. So some of the employees file a case against Wallmart for this gender discrimination. Walmart spent years for defendingagainst this case of gender discrimination lawsuit. The plaintiffs alleged Walmart discriminated against women in promotions, pay and job assignments. The U.S. Supreme Court dismissed the lawsuit due to technical reasons but without issuing a decision on the merits. the complaint focuses on allegations of workers within the southeastern U.S. Here it says that wallmart uses its political power to influence the legislation. If the Court does not take jurisdictionthen the parties adversely affected by local government decisions effectively will have no notice of such decisions for purposes of seeking review.
