Fluid calculation needs in the children are based on their weight. please figure out the following fluid requirement needed for 24 hours then amount you would infuse per hour

a. 8kg infant

b.14kg toddler

c. 21kg child.

For each of these children, what is their weight in pounds?

Solutions

Expert Solution

a. 8kg infant: For infants 3.5 to 10 kg the daily fluid requirement is 100 mL/kg.Pounds = 17.637

b.14kg toddler:For children 11-20 kg the daily fluid requirement is 1000 mL + 50 mL/kg for every kg over 10.

So therefore 1000 + (50*4) = 1000 = 200 = 1200 mL/kg.Pounds=30.8647

c. 21kg child:For children >20 kg the daily fluid requirement is 1500 mL + 20 mL/kg for every kg over 20

So therefore 1500 + (20*1) = 1520 mL/kg.Pounds=46.2971

A refrigerator is running with tetrafluoroethane (R1-34a) as the fluid and working based on the following cycle. Saturated vapor at -12oC is entering the compressor and leaving it at 40oC. The superheated vapor after the compressor then condensed at constant pressure to saturated liquid, which ethers the “Joule-Thompson” throttling valve and back to the initial pressure. Assume your system is operating ideally, with a cooling load of 0.2 kW (200 J/s). (a) Draw the cycle on the P-H diagram and...
