In: Statistics and Probability
In a different shelter, a random sample of dogs’ ages was taken
and the sample
mean was χ = 7.4 years. The standard deviation for the sample was
2.53 years. At
α = 0.05 , test the claim that there is a difference between the
ages of dogs at the two
pet shelters.
ANSWER::
Using Confidence interval method .
S = standard deviation = 2.53
n =20
Confidencce interval :
Significance level = 0.05
confidence interval = 1-0.05 =0.95
tc = 2.093
This interval does not contain 0 or 2 hence we reject H0. There is significant difference between ages of dog .
or using Hypothesis method
Claim that there is a difference between the ages of dogs at the two.
test statistics ;
T= 9.55
P value = 0.0000
( to get p value using excel command =T.DIST.2T(9.55,19) )
P value < 0.05 we reject Ho.
There is significant difference between ages of dog .
