What is the current budget of United States? What is the share of healthcare and education in budget? What is the share of national defense/ military? Analyze the result to take a position, and suggest for changes, if any.WITH REFERENCES
The USA follows the year from September which means its current
budget of the fiscal year 2020 will go through October 1, 2019, to
September 30, 2020. The US is holding the top position as the
biggest economy in the world and that thing reflects in its
budget.
The current fiscal budget outlays of the US stand at a record 4.746
trillion USD and revenues at 3.645 trillion USD which means there
will be a deficit of 1.101 trillion USD.
The spending on defense is proposed at $718 to $750
billion.
The spending on education has been proposed at $62 billion which is
a decrease of 12% from 2019 level.
The total spending on education, training and employment service
stands at 112.4 billion USD.
The proposed US budget spending on healthcare is 616 billion USD
while that on medicare is $685.2 billion according to the Bureau of
Economic Analysis and White House publications.
The defense budget is justified given the fact that the US has
been involved in many of the war fronts. The military activity in
Afghanistan which is running for more than 17 years and recent
activities in Syria has been stressful. The military advancement
projects and other R&D means the US has the largest defense
budget on the planet.
However, the budget is not providing enough support to healthcare
as well as education. These segments are far more superior in
quality but not at all affordable to the common public. Medicare is
underfunded and in such a case, the US needs to raise its spending
on healthcare and education considering the overall peaceful time
period.
The US has already decided to pull out from Syria conflict and it
plans to pull out troops from Afghanistan also.
This will surely ease out burden on defense spending.
