Market intelligence can be gathered on many levels including the Macro Environmental level, a country level, an industry or commodity level, and a supplier level. In an ideal world, intelligence is gathered on all levels. But resources to do so are not always available.
Your manufacturing company sells B2B globally, but your resources are limited. Prioritize your focus. Which level would be the most important to you? Which level would be least important? In both cases, why?
If i am the manufacturer of B2B product, you must focus on all levels equally but as i have to prioritize these levels i would give top preference to supplier level as once i become famous in my industry and well known for my products in my country then i can grow at a fast pace. According to me the hierarchy of the market should be followed which is starting from bottom to top level. The most bottom level is supplier level then industry level then country level then macro level. If in your initial phase you focus on supplier level, you must tell to your supplier who helps in selling your products, that how good your products are, how well do you provide services to your customers and give them huge incentive on selling your product. Once your supplier is satisfied with your business, they will help you in expanding to the industry level which will take you to the country level and touching new levels. If you are starting from macro level, this is possible if you are the big businessmen in any other industry and knows the market condition. If you are starting your manufacturing part then the hierarchy must be followed.
