Solutions

Expert Solution

It was mandatory for the restaurants to mention the calorie counts for each menu item in their restaurant menu card.

Desired Outcome of this rule

  • It was expected that there will be a relation of trust between the restaurant owner and the consumer as giving the calorie count in the menu shows the transperancy.
  • The consumer will be happy and content as he/she will know what they are eating and how much quantity.
  • It was expected that this will prevent the problem of obesity.
  • Consumers will read the contents thoroughly and benefit out of it.
  • This will certainly meet the cosumers desires as mentioning the calorie count will enable them to decide how much to eat.
  • In general the consumers will be happy and they will eat more and more at the restaurants.

Actual outcome of this rule

  • Inititally the consumers were happy with this rule.
  • This was becoming and expensive task for the restaurant owners to print the calorie values.
  • As time went by the customers were least bothered about the calorie counts and they were not at all interested in the values written on the menu.
  • It had become a time consuming affair.
  • Financially it was a burden for the restaurant owners.
  • Full nutrition information was not given and only half information was made available.
  • Some of the customers were not happy with calorific values written.
  • It also happened that the restaurant owners gave only half information and cheated the consumers.

The Idaho Department of Law Enforcement, in conjunction with the federal government, recently began a truck inspection program in Idaho. The current inspection effort is limited to an inspection of only those trucks that visually appear to have some defect when they stop at one of the weigh stations in the state. The proposed inspection program will not be limited to the trucks with visible defects, but will potentially subject all trucks to a comprehensive safety inspection. Jane Lund of...
