The management staff of a public housing project comes to you for assistance. They have been given a grant to train and empower resident leaders in an effort to build a sense of community and eliminate drug abuse problems. The resident council are new, and their meetings are not well attended. The management staff is convinced that the housing project should have a new playground. They ask you to help them design a needs assessment process that will show this. What would you do in this situation? What are some ideas you would suggest going forward?

Public housing projects are there in most of the country. There will be a management for looking after the project. The management staffs of the public housing project given a grant to train and enpower resident leaders in an effort to build a sense of community and eliminate drug abuse problems. But the resident council is new and they dont attended any meetings. So the management decided to have a new playground for housing project. In a situation like this, I will decide to make a new resident council. The members of the council will be efficient and experienced. Both male and female members will be selected. It is very necessary to have a proper management for a housing project. Because through this project, many families are living together in a common residence. If the resident council is not efficient it is very difficult to run the residence smoothly. Then I will suggest for electing a president and secretary for the council. The president want to prepare an agenda for the council. It is the responsibility of the president to conduct meeting regularly. The council must ensure every residents in the residence are attending the meeting. The council can make a sense of community among the families living in the residence. For that they can introduce separate meet ups for men, women and children. If there is a togetherness between the families we can solve many problems like drug abuse.

For making the council efficient, it is some difficult. The management of the housing projects can be make seminars and class for the counciling members to make them perfect members. Experienced members can be given guide and assistance to the new members. If there is a co operation and understanding among the members they can take decisions togetherly. The council can make some laws and guidelines which the residence want to be obey. If any malpractises happened, the council should given the right to take actions. Like that enough fund is needed for the smooth functioning of the council. So council want to find the way for the fundings. Through these ideas wecan run an efficient council which solve all the problems and which meet all the needs of the members in the residence.
