What percentage of American workers get paid above minimum wage? In general, why do such workers get paid more than the government-mandated minimum wage?
In the year 2017 , according to the characteristic of minimum wage worker about BLS 80.4 million worker age is 16 and older in US were hourly paid for their work which consist of 58.3& of the whole wages including the salary workers.

By the bureau of labor statistics (BLS ) which estinmated that about 20.6 millions people are those who earn more than theminimum wage or paid more than the minimum wages .it make 30% of hourly , non self employed wokrer who are 18 or more in ages .
The worker are getting paid more than the set minimum wages becuase , those worker are experienced , skilled , dedicated etc for that compnay and if they left out there can be a loss for the company so they are being paid more than the minimum wage .
