Importance of quality of care is vital for reducing moratality and improving quality of care and patient safety .

Quality of care is also a key component of the right to health, and the route to equity and dignity for patients.

quality of care you can provide by safety, avoid injuries to patient. Avoid over use of ineffective care and underuse of effective care. Reduce waiting for both patients and those who give care.

  6. infiltration. leakage of intravenous solution or medication into the extravascular tissue.

how to avoid intravenous complications

  • Select an appropriate I.V. site, avoiding areas of flexion.
  • Use proper venipuncture technique.
  • Follow your facility policy for securing the I.V. catheter.
  • Observe the I.V. site frequently.
  • Advise the patient to report any swelling or tenderness at the I.V. site.
  • check the cannula gauge before applying any hypertonic solutions and crystelloids. should not administer through low gauge IV cannula

Always record if any IV complications occured, raise an incident report, check for density of the IV complications. follow up should be followed

Preventive and corrective action should be taken

maintain a IV line check list to the patient file according to the hospital policy.
