Mary gave birth 24 hours ago. She complains of perineal discomfort. "My hemorrhoids and stiches are killing me, but I do not want to take pain medication because I am breastfeeding." What are the non-pharmlogical things you can have her do to relieve her discomfort.
There are many messages without pharmacological intervention we can reduce the pain and irritation related to hemorrhoid such interventions are mentioned below
1-warm bath for sitz bath-this is a procedure patient set on warm water About 3 inches deep for 15 minutes and procedure can repeat for the relaxation this helps in reduce the swelling and relaxes the spiture muscle so it help to to reduce pain.
2-hydration drink several glasses of water each day these helps in sorting of the after stool and reduces the pain during defecation
3-petroleum jelly in the rectum so it will give a soothing effect buy this will have a comfort and reduce the itching
4-clothing avoid tight fitted clothes wear loose fabric clothes so it will give comfort
5-cold application -application of ice packs on tender area for few minutes will helps to reduce the swelling with this patient will get relief from pain and irritation
6-high fibre diet high fibre food and vegetables fruits nuts helps in smooth defecation and prevent constipation
