Nutrition research study

Introduction

Nutrition is the science of foods, the study of nutrients and other substances therein, their action, interaction and balance in relationship to health and disease. It is the process by which the organism ingests, digests, absorbs, transports and utilises nutrients and disposes off their end products. Nutrition is a critical link between good health and productive life. Today most of the chronic diseases are caused by different lifestyle, nutrition deficiency, lack of physical exercise, etc. By giving proper nutrition, illness and hospitalisation may be prevented. Classical medicines and different therapies sometime usefull, but a maintained balanced diet is much more efficient to restore optimal health.

Nutrition and health

Mainly there are three main problems caused due to lack of nutrition. *Protein energy malnutrition. *Micronutrient deficiency. *Chronic diseases

The extend of protein energy malnutrition is reflected by decrease growth rate indicated by reduced weight and height in adults and children when compared to given standards.

Micronutrient deficiency is the poor intake of vitamins and minerals. These all are the reasons for specific clinical signs.

Excessive intake of carbohydrates and fats causes obesity and lead to chronic diseases such as DM, cardiac diseases.

Conclusion

The nutritional science today encompass a range of scientific disciplines that pertain to food, the nutrients and components that are contained therein, how these are utilised to support physiological processes and promote health, and the role food plays within a societal context.
