Poor economical status and social structure are the important factors of development of malnutrition.Conditions like bad economy, lack of sufficient knowledge, education, ignorance, lack of knowledge regarding food values, inadequate sanitary environment, large family size, closely spaced families with repeated pregnancies, working mothers, infants with low birth weight and prematurity etc are the causes of malnutrition. The ecology of malnutrition is complex with numbers of influencing factors like disease conditions ,infections ,socio-economic status ,cultural practices, and available health practices and other services.
Family planning can help couples space the births of their children ,so that child has passed the weaning stage before another one is conceived.Family planning can help families limit the number of children to those they can feed and care for.The amount of food a family can produce or buy is an important determination of nutritional status.Expanding access to reproductive health services ,including voluntary family planning has a positive impact on the nutritional status of both mothers and young children,as well as overall food security of communities and countries.
