Solutions

Expert Solution

Positive confirmity: Positive conformity can be defined as the tendency to match or resonate ones beliefs, attitudes and behaviour with those around us leading to positive consequences. Example: Confirming to the dressing customs and traditions while in a new country leads to easy acceptance and inclusion in the new culture.

Negative conformity : Negative conformity can be defined as the tendency to match or resonate Ines beliefs, attitude and behaviour with those around us leading to negative consequences. Example: participation in hazing which refers to any activity that is expected from someone joining a new group that is aimed at humiliating, degrading or causing emotional harm to a person. This kind of conformity only to be a part of the group and confirm to the tradition of hazing has severe negative consequences.

Positive obedience: Positive obedience can be defined as the compliance to a law, request or order from an authority figure or institution which leads to positive consequences. Example: Obedience to law has positive consequences that benefit a large number of people.

Negative obedience: Negative obedience can be defined as compliance to a request, order or law from an authority figure or institution which leads to negative consequences. Example: Negative obedience was the reason behind the killing of millions of Jews by Hitler's military.
