Answer : Independant judiciary is the ability of the court and judges to perform their duties free of influence or control by others either government or private organizations . The importance of independent judiciary is 1)It assures punishment to the criminals without any consideration . 2) It increases people's faith  in the judiciary system and helps to get more respect from the people . 3) It helps to prevent all types of offences in a country . 4) it helps to correct the decision of the Government . 5) It is essential for protecting the rights of citizens. Independence has been maintained by 1) Separation of judiciary from the executive and legislature : It helps to avoid interference of others in the matters of judiciary 2) Appointment of experienced judges : Only one experienced judge can take independant and accurate decision. 3) Judges need high qualifications : Judges have to deeply learn about the cases before giving punishments or taking a decision .Without proper qualification , judges can't take any action on anybody . 4) Prohibition of retired judges in the court : Retired judges may get influenced by authorities or they may are not able to take decisions due to the lack of new investigation methods so better to avoid retired judges .5) one way to promote judicial independence is by granting by life tenure or long tenure for judges ,which ideally helps them to rule according to the law .
