1-postpartum hemorrhage is define as the loss of blood in a excessive amount than the normal after the birth of a baby .It happen mainly in a case of cesarean birth(surgical delivery of a baby through cut in the mother’s abdomen or uterus). It happens after the placenta is delivered but in some case it might happen later also.

2- causes of postpartum hemorrhage are:

* Tear in the cervix .

*Sometimes it is caused by blood clotting disorder.

*Mainly with the placenta problem

*Due to the uterine atony means that the uterus of the mother is not contracting much enough to control the bleeding at the placental sites.

3-Things that can prevent postpartum hemorrhage and these are:

* Early recognition and management of the complication can prevent.

* Having a good nutrition can also prevent from postpartum hemorrhage.

*Adequate prenatal care must be there.

* It is important of having emergency care available in case it is needed at the time of delivery and after the birth also.early care can reduce the amount of blood loss

4-signs and symptoms:

* Increase in the heart rate.

* Decrease of the blood pressure

*Uncontrolled bleeding.

*Swelling and pain in the private part and nearby area.

Avarage blood loss in the delivery is about 500ml .The average amount of blood loss in a cesarean birth is about 1,000ml which indicates a postpartum hemorrhage.
