All athelets not following same type of diet
based on the energy system used the athlete needs different diet in oder to optimize their performance. In some sports such as tennis there can even be a mix between two or more energy systems.
now we can discuss professional athletes to long time amateur athletes. Nutritional foods are helping before and after competition.
For example we can select runners like marathon.
1) before competition-
- eat meals that are carbohydrates rich moderate in protein and low in fat and fiber to obtimize digestion and energy availability.
- prevents dehydration by consuming fluids in the hours leading up to a long competition.
2) ideal food consuming 1-4 hours before competition
- fruits and yoghurt
- low fat cottage cheese
- peanut butter
- chicken on a whole wheat bun
3) 30 to 60 Minute before
- a piece of fruits
- whole grain crackers
- Applesauce
4) during competition
- consume fluids to prevent dehydration
- carbohydrates rich food for faster absorption
ex . Glucose, fructose, sucrose etc .
5) after competition
_ consume a snack or meal within an hour following competition
_ eat 15 to 25 gram high quality protein to assist you muscle in repairing damage and tissue to stimulate muscle protein synthesis.

_ nuts and dried fruit
_ rice bowl with beans , cheese, salsa and avocado
_ grilled protein such fish, chicken and carrots or backed sweet potatoes
