Many people derive happiness by connecting to a wider purpose
and contributing to the well-being of others. As part of that
connection they practice ‘random acts of kindness’--doing something
for someone that is unexpected like helping someone load their
groceries, giving someone quarters for the parking meter, helping
out a friend with some homework, or picking up lunch for a
stranger. Not only do they help out another person, they derive
happiness from the gesture.
