How does the representation of knowledge in computers (documents, photos, music, files etc.) differ from the representation of knowledge in humans? How are they similar? Use real-world examples to back up your stance as well as using the Virtual Library for additional research. Do NOT use Wikipedia. Use appropriate academic resources. APA structure and format expected. Use in-text citations and and references Please.
Humans tend to have a sense of sight whereas computers lack this function. Sense of expression and angle of objects as well as their perception is something that computers lack. However, some of the aspects of their functioning including the encoding, decoding and processing of information have significant similarities. Face recognition software may fail to recognize an individual in case they wear an additional item such as sunglasses, a hat or another fancy object. Human output devices also include customized and unique voices, facial expressions and actions. Computer output devices on the other hand include sound, display on screen, and print outs when connected to other peripherals such as a printer. Therefore a similarity between the two in terms of output is sound. The difference is the kind of sound produced by the two. Brains are analogous consisting of unique neuronal brain systems and structures whereas computers are digital in nature. Brain utilizes content addressable memory whereas a computer may use byte addressable memory to process data. The processing speed is therefore not fixed in a brain since it has a unique human element to it which may differ from person to person. Computers on the other hand possess uniform speed for processing data. Hardware and software distinction cannot be made in the human mind whereas in case of computers they are well distinguished. Most importantly the brain capacitates much more data than a computer. Processing and memory functions are performed by same structures in case of the brain whereas they are highly distinguished in case of computers.
