Why did the U.S enter world war 1? Trace the evolution of events that led to the decision in favor of war.
The U.S. entered World War 1 because Wilson cited Germany's violation of the pledge for suspending the unrestricted submarine in warfare and then to in the North Atlantic and in the Mediterranean and also its attempt to enter Mexico for the alliance forming against the United States was the main reason for declaring war. This was the main reason why and how the U.S. entered World War 1.
The then U.S. president Woodrow Wilson sought for maintaining neutrality but it was ultimately unable to keep the country out of the war because of the increasing aggression of Germany. In January 1917, the Germans resumed submarine warfare. After the few days of the announcement, the Wilson administration acquired the copy of Zimmermann Telegram which was for urging Mexico to join the alliance against America.
The publication of the Telegram and the rising submarine attacks of German on U.S. vessels resulted in U.S. Congress for declaring the war on Germany on April 6,1917. The Selective Service Act of 1917 authorized conspirations of the military power for war so that the U.S. shall not rely on the volunteers.
