A. Nursing Education and Accreditation:
1.The major role of nursing agencies is to bring changes in nursing education and to improve the quality and standard of nursing practice.
2.American nurses association ensures high standard of nursing practiceand to promote safe work environment.
ANCC tries to maintain the standards of nursing.
CCNE accredits the various nursing programmes like BSN and other higher nursing degrees.
NLN offers research grant,teaching resources ,testing services
STTI is the scholarly honor society for nursing.
3 .The nursing school submit the application to the accreditation agency,they receive provisional status to accept students and to start the classes.The accreditation agency tells the schools how many students can be admitted in a course.The nursing school has to report back to the particular agency regarding the progress.A visit is made by the members of accredited agency to verify the progress and developments,if the school passes they receive full accreditation.
4.Associates: 2year programme,BSN:4year programme and advanced nursing programmes such as Masters in Nursing .
5.The purpose of DNP is to provide advance nurses with a doctoral degree,thus enhancing leadership qualities and to bring changes in nursing practice through research.
B. The History of Nursing:
1.IN 1860 Florence Nightingle started the first secular nursing school.
In 1911 The American Nurses Association was established.
20th century witness many nursing leaders who developed theories bases on clinical practice.
Eg:Virgina Henderson,Dorothea Dix,Lillian Wald.
C.PROFESSION:
Profession involves extensive training and special knowledge.It requires a degree or complete studiesat a university or other institution of higher education.
8.COMPARE AND CONTRAST PROFESSION WITH OCCUPATION:
Occupation doesnot require a degree or university education.It simply means doing a job for livelyhood whereas profession has set standards and ethical values and requires educational qualification.

D) Nursing is an art and science which involves caring the patients who are having illnesses or injuries,focussed on individuals,families and communities.
