The client is a 5 year old girl. The teacher tells the client’s mother that the daughter appears inattentive and stares out into spare several time throughout the day in which she saw the rapidly during these episode, lasting a minute or two. The provider suspects the client is experiencing a type of seizure disorder and has order a liquid antiepileptic medication?
The signs and symptoms shows that seizure is partial one and affecting sense organ eye, and this is usually called as AURAS.
The major reasons for the seizure episodes and recurrence can be avoided to an extend.
The medicines to be administered on time. There showing be much stress or sleeplessness for the child. Other factors like climate and disturbances in sound also can stimulate the recurrence.
Special attention be given to avoid the above mentioned.
Common drugs for partial or tonic-clonic seizures include carbamazepine (Carbatrol or Tegretol), phenytoin (Dilantin), and valproate, valproic acid (Depakene, Depakote).
Side effectseffects can include stomach problems or tiredness, and in the case of Dilantin, excess hair growth. For absence seizures, medications include Depakote or Depakene and ethosuximide (Zarontin).
Usually the medicine can be stopped only by the physician. However we have to keep an eye on the child since the recurrence can be expected any time. Education about the same to parents is very important.
Safety measures to be followed during the series of this is also very important.
