Describe five broad functions of the pediatric nurse in promoting the health of children.
Before understanding the function of a pediatric nurse first we need to know who is a pediatric nurse.
A Pediatric Nurse is a discipline of registered nurse only who particularly care for neonates and children who have not reached the stage of adolescence in various healthcare settings.
The five broad functions of the pediatric nurse in promoting the health of children are -
1. In a typical healthcare setting, Pediatric nurses coordinates in multidisciplinary team with other health experts to as to make sure that they deliver the best possible medical care for the admitted children
2. During the whole treatment of the children, the role of the pediatric nurse is very crucial in monitoring the health as well as other vital signs of the kid. They intervene quickly just in case of any emergent situations
3. Throughout the whole stay of the young patient in the hospital, the pediatric nurse serves as the child advocate and maintain privacy as well as confidentiality in their relationship
4. If the child is suffering from severe pain, the pediatric nurse determines his/her need in managing the pain and provide supportive care
5. Determine pathophysiological problems, assess and intervene abnormal findings and most importantly provide proper and timely medication
