Case I: When the genes are unlinked (they will follow mendels law of inheritance and will produce recombinant type other than parental types)
A test cross between CcDd (F1 ) and ccdd (double recessive parent) will produce a ratio of 1:1:1:1 as shown in the image below. Hence the percentage of Progeny C_D_ of this cross will be 25 %.
Case II: When genes are completely linked (there will be no crossing over between the genes and therefore only parental type will be formed and no recombinant type will appear.)
A test cross between CcDd (F1) and ccdd will produce a ratio of 1:1 and the progenies with C_D_ genotype will be 50 %.
