You are a sales manager for marketing. Today, a client requested you for a product. He said he couldn't afford it after telling him the price. You know that a competitor will get it cheaper. Should you tell him about the competitor price, or would you just let him go without the need? How are you going to do? Justify your response on the ethical theories.

In today's business world the most important factor for any company is customers and the quality of the service we provide to the customer at every touchpoint of the company with its customers. Hence, as a sales manager in marketing, you must realise that this customer is a potential prospect but currently may not afford the product hence, we must provide appropriate consultation to the customer that he may have different available options from the competitor. This will only help the customer more and it will be a good customer experience. With such experience the customer may come back for purchasing our products when she can afford it. This approach helps in building relationships rather which is good for the business.
On the grounds of business ethics, it is necessary that we comply to ethics and according to ethics it is must for us to help our customers or prospects in much better way possible. We must provide the customer with appropriate information whenever she seeks it, however complying with the business policies pressuming them to be ethical.
Hence, these are the actions that can be taken by the sales manager in lieu of ethical theories in management.
