Youtube as a space for ethical concern: What are the problems and how do you propose we address them?
Social media, such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, are changing how people build share information, relationships, and make the decisions in everyday lives. YouTube’s easy accessibility, free service, and opportunities for sharing have extended its original goal from a venue for sharing consumer-generated content to an entertainment destination. Today YouTubers intentionally create dramatic videos to attract viewership’s. It is going away from its original purpose to broadcast alternative viewpoints and influence public debates.
There are many videos on Youtube relating to different topics and different religions that cause great controversy could cause tension among users primarily because they are permitted to comment and reply to the videos with their own personal views, which could potentially be very misleading. Although there is an option to disable comments, ratings, and replies to videos, however it still manages to create controversies. To address such concerns Youtube needs to be more socially controlled to validate the views on sensitive issues. It will help to create YouTube as a playground where creativity is flourished, and a cultural public sphere where sentiments and emotions are expressed with a collective behavior
