Possible signs of physical abuse
• No description of damage or any disagreement with what happened.
• Lesions are inconsistent with the lifestyle of the individual.
• Bleeding, cutting, welting, burning and/or bruises on the body or hair loss in clumps;
• Multiple injuries.
•.Unexplained falls.
• Unexplained damage to covered body parts such as knees, legs, abdomen, frenulum, ears and neck indicate child violence. The risk of accidental bruise is a function of the actions and cognitive capacity of a child. In infants who do not cruise or walk the bruises are rare. Unexplained bruises, scratches, burns, burns, or welts.
• Hyper-vigilance (always searching for hazard) and inability to trust.
• Aggressive behaviour, or attempts to control and dominate others.
