Hyperlipidemia refers to elevated levels of cholesterol in the body .The lipids in the human body are formed when there is more carbohydrates from a diet. This is converted to get triglycerides .These are nothing but the basic unit of lipids. The fats are broken down to get lipid. Liver plays a key role here. The fats triglycerides which are in the intestines first reaches the liver for metabolism .From their the VLDL is activated and the lips is transferred to tissue for usage .Meanwhile the LDL is secreted in the liver. The HDL in liver helps to transport lipid from tissue to the liver for metabolism .When there is an alteration in this process the lipids carried from the tissue, intestines are disturbed.Meanwhile the level of LDL increases drastically with decreased HDL. The cholesterol starts depositing in the blood vessels called as hyperlipdemia. This forms the basis for cardiovascular issues.
