(3 part question)Humans have been genetically modifying plants and animals since at least the beginning of the Holocene. Genetically modified food is found in almost all grocery stores and has allowed for a more robust food supply, however, many people argue that genetically modifying food can cause significant harm to health. Reflect on the nature of GMOs, their place in our society, and the potential harms/benefits?
It is a long debated issue for last couple of decades whether to use GMOs or not and they have pros and cons. GMOs are widely used in western world and available in the grocery store but in some countries like India, people are not considering GMOs as food item (except some corn or rice varieties) as most of the population is vegetarian and some section of the population considering it unethical and animal based integration to the plant species. They are everywhere in grocery store in Walmart like water melon, rice, grapes and brinjal (egg plants), these are just a few name, actual list is long.
Majority of people using organic products over these sophisticated and glorified GMOs. Initially, they were created or manufactured against certain types of pathogen like Bt cotton then introduced for quality improvement, quantity improvement, and growth against different dangerous pest. Beside benefits they do have some demerits like different allergies, resistance antibiotics in people and they may cause some serious diseases like cancer, diabetes and cardio vascular diseases.
