describe glottal vibratory cycle

Solutions

Expert Solution

Ans. Glottal vibratory cycle is a process of production voice by the vibration of the vocal fold called glottal cycle. This process is governed by the opening and closing of the vocal fold letting short puffs of air through at high speed producing air pressure which is converted to sound waves.

The process : 3 step process

1. Column of air pressure moving towards the vocal fold.

2. By the coordinated action of the diaphragm, abdominal muscles, chest muscles, and rib cage, air is moved out of the lungs and towards the vocal folds.

3. Vocal fold vibration - sequence of vibratory cycle

  • Folds are moved to midline with the help of voice box muscles, nerves, and cartilages
  • One vibratory cycle,
  1. Column of air pressure opens the bottom of voval fold
  2. Continuing the air flow upwards, towards the top of vocal folds, and opens the top
  3. The low pressure created behind the fast moving air columnl will produces a “Bernoulli effect” which causes the bottom to close.
  4. Closure of the vocal fold will cut off the air column and releases a pulse of air.
  5. This cycle repeats

Describe the water cycle in detail. Include in your discussion the stocks of the cycle and the relative abundance of water in each of the stocks. Also discuss the flows of the cycle and the various ways by which water move through the stock. Then, describe the water cycle in Indiana, and the important components of that cycle. Discuss how the water cycle has created features of Indiana's landscape, including streams, groundwater, and karst. Include specific examples in your discussion.
