Thorsteinsson. Please I really need help with this. Thank you.
Instructions:
A survey pilot study was done by Einar B. Thorsteinsson Anja Draper and Amy D. Lykins on "The Relative Impact of Attitudes toward Autism Spectrum Disorders and the Ability to Interpret Scientific Information on Vaccination Decisions". Through the online survey data was collected from 132 participants and majority of participants were from Australia. The aim of the study was
1.To identify the relation between knowledge of ASD and attitude regarding ASD.
2.Identify the correlation between attitude towards MMR vaccine and ASD
3. Understand the relation between scientific knowledge and vaccination decisions of parents.
Tools used by the researchers to collect data:
1.Societal Attitudes to Autism Scale -16 items
2.Survey questionnaire to assess knowledge regarding autism -20 items
3. MMR survey - 19 items
Major findings of the study:
1.78.8% of the participants have positive attitude and 5.9% have negative attitude towards MMR vaccine.
2.Strong corelation between attitude towards vaccination for MMR and ASD
3. Strong corelation between scientific knowledge and attitude towards vaccination for MMR
4.Weak corelation between attitude towards ASD and attitude towards MMR vaccine.
5. Participants having positive attitude towards MMR vaccine seeks information from various sources.
Evaluation of the research: The researchers tried to identify the relationship between MMR vaccination and attitude towards ASD. But the sample size for the study was less hence generalisation is not possible. The samples were not homogenous and chance for bias is there. The attribution rate was high. The tool used for the study was not appropriate.
Missing information in the article : Information about the methodology.
Credibility of the authors : From the study we can identify that the intention was good but some of the errors affected their credibility too.
