An ideal disinfectant is a substance which can be used to clean all the surfaces and is effective against all the microbial species.

But there is no such ideal disinfectant. Different types of disinfectant are used to clean different types of perforated. Some of them are effective against Gram Negative bacteria, some of them are effective against Gram Positive Bacteria, some are used against only dust particles, some are used against oil particles etc.
