The availability of cloud computing, accessing computing resources as needed through the internet, has made access to stored data more achievable in a mobile environment. Cloud computing resources provided by third-party vendors also make it much more affordable to store and manage your data.
Using your textbook and/or internet searches research cloud computing. Using complete sentences include the following information in your document.
What is cloud computing? Name three cloud storage resources available.
What are the advantages of saving files to the cloud? Include three advantages.
What are the disadvantages of saving files to the cloud? Include three disadvantages.
Cloud computing is shared pools of configurable computer system resources and higher-level servicesthat can be rapidly provisioned with minimal management effort, often over the internet. Cloud computing relies on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economies of scale similar to public utility.
1. Software as a service: The capability provide to the consumer is to use the provider's applications running on a cloud infrastructure.
2. Platform as a service: The capability provided to the consumer is to deploy onto the cloud infrastrucutre consumer created or acquired applications created using programming languaged, services etc.
3. Infrastructure as a service: The capability provided to the consumer is to provision processing, storage, networks and other fundamental computing resources.
Advantages of saving file to cloud:
1. Usability: Cloud storage services allows users to drag/drop files between cloud storage and files storage.
2. Bandwidth: You can avoid emailing files to individual and instead send a web link to recipients through email.
3. Accessibility: Stored files can be accessed from anywhere via internet connection.
Disadvantages of saving files to cloud:
1. Usability: Moving a document from file to cloud folder will permanently remove the folder from file.
2. Bandwidth: Several cloud storage services has specific bandwidth allowance. If an organisation surpasses the given allowance, the additional charges should be significant.
3. Accessebility: If you have no internet connection, you have no access to your data.
