The count of the older population is increasing world over with increased level of life expectancy. People over the age of 65 are more in the world now. Also the population of the world is increasing at a higher rate. This has led to the increased level of poverty in entrire world. When poverty rates are increasing then the most affected portion of the population is the elderly community be it men or women.

• The social life of urban elderly who are poor is better when compared to the rural elderly poor.
• The urban elder poor have their relatives or near and dear ones with them to help them out when compared to their rural counterparts.
• The urban elderly poor are more prone to entertainment and they can keep themselves entertained and busy.

Difference in attitude of rural and urban elderly poor

The level of lifestyle and the upbringing influences the attitude of a person. In case of the elderly people, they have crossed almost full life and have gained much more experience so that too influences the level of their attitude.
The life of urban poor is more easy going when compared to the rural elderly poor so that their attitude is more relaxed when it comes to facing a situation as they have more exposure.

• When health matters are in discussion then the attitude of rural elder poor is very relaxed as they have access to good food, pollution free enviornment and nutrition.
• Attitude towards life is easy going and enjoyed by urban elder poor.
• But as diseases are increasing in rural areas and they have less access to good health care their attitude towards the health care activities is biased and towards their older life is shrinked.
• The attitude of the urban poor towards the government is more strong as they see the development in front of their eyes.
