Are babies who are given up for adoption right after birth confused about hearing no longer hearing their mother's voice from prenatal development?
So I am going to answer this question n the context of fetal hearing loss and the adoption after birth based on the hearing impairment. A baby or fetus at Week 24 develop ability to hear sounds and can respond to it at minimal capacity. After birth to diagnostic tests can be performed by using methods such as Otoacoustic emissions (OAE) and Auditory brain stem response (ABR) . Before fetal birth there is a method that can be done during pregnancy to test hearing loss linked to the gene. The most likely gene associated with hearing loss would be Connexin 26 gene and can provide us if hearing loss is at genetic level. babies wit hearing loss pose a serous challenge to untrained parents in terms of communication, learning language and interactions. So if a parent decides to put up the baby on the basis of hearing loss, then they should make sure the baby is clinically diagnosed by expert and avoid any misunderstanding regarding the baby's hearing. In principle and in moral terms it is not in terms of parenthood or humanity to set up a bay for adoption if no longer hearing their mother's voice from prenatal development or due to any medical reasons. hearing loss can happen to anyone and everyone and it is up to us as parents to support and help especially babies who are vulnerable and can be traumatized if abandoned and future adult can not have a chance of better recovery.
