1. A malfuction occurs in the cell. The malfunction causes the cell to be no longer capable of regulating H30+ levels in the cell. H30+ increases.

A. Explain what would happen to the pH.

B. Out of translation, transcription, and replication which would be the most effected and why.

2. Why do genes code to make proteins but not carbs, nucleic acid, or fats? How do proteins function in the body?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer ) 1) When the hydronium ion increases in the body, the PH becomes more acidic which means the PH falls /decreases.

Hydronium ion is formed by the combinationm of water and hygrogen ion combined, this combination occurs because the hydrogen ion cannot stay in the water unbinded.

2) The most affected process in the acidic Ph environment is on the process of Replication, since the basic ph is required overall for the enzymatic acitivity to happen, if that does not happen, then there wont be a basic requirement which helps in the denaturing process of the double stranded DNA which is essentially required for the initiation of the replication of DNA.

Answer) The protiens are tailored to be formed from DNA and RNA which are themselves protiens and undergo transcription and translation processes, hence they code for protiens whereas when we talk about others like carbohydrates and fats, they do not function in the similar manner but have their own set of enzymatic processes and paths. Carbs Fats and others mostly function through the enzymtic activities occuring in the body, hence these two work differently

I hope i was able to help you with the answers !:)
