The duration of pharmalogic effect is?
The duration of actionof a drug is the length of time that particular drugis effective. Duration ofaction is a function of several parameters including plasma half-life, the time to equilibrate between plasma and target compartments, and the off rate of thedrug from its biological target. Pharmacological effects of drugs (i.e. theireffects on cells, organs and systems) are, in principle, simple to measure in animals, and often also in humans. We can measure effectson blood pressure, plasma cholesterol concentration, cognitive function, etc., without difficulty.Onset of action is the duration of time it takes for a drug's effects to come to prominence upon administration. With oral administration, it typically ranges anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour, depending on the drug in question.
Four phases of pharmacokinetics
The main processes involved in pharmacokinetics are absorption,
distribution, and the two routes of drug
elimination, metabolism and excretion. Together they are sometimes
known by the acronym 'ADME
