Answer)

The trade union of Germany known as Free Association of German Trade Union has gained much importance recently. We all know that with rising rapid economic changes, there has been great change in the macroeconomic framework of the industrialised nations of the world like Great Britain and U.S.A . By macroeconomic framework I mean, rising inequality in terms of wages and income . There are many suggested points which can be taken from German unions to put into practice by these industrialised nations to achieve the desired advantages. These are :

  • Changing skill needs - This is a positive strategy of these unions also known as skill based strategy. It involves training and retraining of their old labour force.
  • Increased demand for flexible labour- By encouraging adaptation rather than resistance to change , employment of labour can be stabilised. Thus problem of unemployment can be easily addressed.
  • Educating the workforce- This will have positive and direct impact in enhancing the human capital of the nation.
