Should Rev. Tark return to see Mrs. Clarkson in spite of Dr. Vern's ban? Does Mrs. Clarkson have the right to choose her counselor? Do patients "belong" to any professionals?

Solutions

Expert Solution

No, No patient belongs to any professional. The patient has sole right in choosing which professional, doctor or therapy to stick with.

Yes, Mrs. Clarkson have every right to choose the her counselor based on what she feels, whom she trust and whom she thinks is better in curing her illness.

Rev. Tark may or may not return of Mrs. Clarkson, depending upon the decision taken by her.

Curing a diseased state is affected by lots of things including the experience and skill of doctor, patient's compliance, trust and confidence and other stuffs. Anything can affect in a good or bad manner, so we cannot blindly come into a conclusion on what works best for a patient without trials.

If Mrs.Clarkson finds Rev. Tark to be more helpful, she can consult him again or if she finds him less helpful she can stop consulting him. If she has consulted Dr. Vern and if he has banned her from Rev. Tark, it's her wish to accept it or not. She could try that and see if it's helping her. If it does she can stick on with the ban or if it doesn't help her, she doesn't have to stick on with that plan.

No patient actually belongs yo any professional. It's against the Ethics of autonomy. The patient has the right to know everything and choose what's best from him/her. No professional can force him away from it.
