True or false? 1. Watching videos that present misperceptions followed by an explanation of the right answers tend to improve student learning. 2. Students tend to learn more when they find the explanation of misconceptions confusing 3. If a video presents a new idea, then students tend to revise their own misconceptions 4. If a video presents misconceptions first, then students tend to report confusion: and they don't learn anything. 5. Videos alone do not promote student learning
1 - True, The present misperceptions are mostly based on the average mentality of the students, Many a times students do not think as in they do not track their own behaviour. Hence the misconceptions shown in the video are effective followed by the right or wrong thing.
2. True - Students woud learn more if they find misconceptions confusing, they would be confused, they would take more time to discover between right and wrong. They would try to discover between right and wrong.
3. False - The new idea may or may not lead to misconception, in some cases the false ideas leads to more misconceptions. I guess the age old ideas would help them revise their mosconceptions. Trying to undertsand the logic behind why it is implemented would lead them to more misconceptions.
4. False - I gues students would analyze based on the complete video shown and then they would come down to point. Showing misconception or right thing first would lead to any confusion, they would watch the entire thing and then would analyze.
5. True - Videos do not alone promote learning, there are books, hence by reading, practising the thing, bring it into real life practise would help them learn more.
