The printing press revolutionised the way people treated news. Since information printed in papers was initially uncensored, unlike today where editing is a major part of the publication process, many radical thoughts spread across society, empowering the masses while threatening the existence of imposing political powers.

Authoritarian is a type of political system in which power is concentrated in a single entity, with no obligation to serve the people. As such a system limits the power of people and the printing press worked to do just the opposite, it can be said that the invention of the printing press made it more difficult for the authoritarian political system to survive.
