some products like alcohol and tobacco are heavily taxed by the government. explain two reasons why the government chooses to interfere in these specific markets?
Ans:- The government imposed heavily taxes in all alcoholic and tobacco products for the purpose of healthcare and collecting government funds. One of the idea behind the alcoholic and tobacco taxes is that to decrease in the demand of these specific products (mainly youth). The main reasons behind the government's interference in the alcohol and tobacco market are.
1. One of the common method used by the government is imposing exercise duty on the sale of these specific products . The alcohol and tobacco tax is best cost effective process for attaining it's objective of decreases in injurious alcoholic consumption.
2. Protecting the people from increasing the danger of violence , communal disorder , prevent from accident (drink driving) , health protection etc .
3. To increase income for the government- Alcoholic and tobacco taxes increase income for the government. The government use this taxes for the infrastructure development.
