describe the life functions organism need to perform, give an example of an organ system and how it works to maintain homeostasis and/or metabolic functions; explain how the nervous and/or hormonal systems coordinate and control the other body systems and why it is important; give examples of physiological and behavioral changes that can respond to changes in the environment
Let's discuss about the excretory system, to maintain homeostasis and/or metabolic function.
Kidney plays a major role in it. When there is decrease in BP or decrease in renal blood flow then Renin angiotensin- aldosterone system activated. The release of renin from justa- glomerular apparatus converts angiotensinogen to angiotensin. Finally ANG II is formed by the action of ACE.
ANG II causes veno constriction that increases end diastolic volume, finally increases cardiac output and BP.
It also works on zona glomerulosa of adrenal gland to release aldosterone. Aldosterone retain salt and water from distal tubule of kidney which increases BP and blood volume.
That's how it maintain homeostasis.
Neurohormonal system coordinate in their function for proper body functioning. If there is need of any hormone in the body then impulse travel through neural system to work on glands which secrete hormones.
