Chapter 11: middle childhood physical developent :
1.Children in middle childhood have slow and steady growth pattern until late middle childhood or early adolescence.Through this period children gain arround 2 and a half inches in height each year.
2.children during this time have increased appetite and food intake.About 7 pounds of weight gain occurs in this course of time. But body shape and body composition remains relatively same.
Chapter 14: Adolescence, physical development:
1 Adolescence begins with the puberty. Several physical changes occurs during puberty such as adrenal glands and sex glands. It is through this period, primary and secondary sexual characters develop lop in male and females . Secondary sexual characters such as breasts, hips, facial hair etc develop.
2. Frontal cortex of the brain which is responsible for rational thinking, self control, emotional regulation etc.are in a developing stage in adolescence hence they differ from adults in making decisions and in the way they behave where as amygdala which processes stress and other emotions like aggresion and fear develop early.
